Our Residential Programs are staffed 24/7. Our Resident Assistants are responsible for supporting residents by assisting with essential living skills and activities while ensuring a safe and healthy living environment and upholding the dignity and respect of each individual. This position is located at our Lighthouse Residence on 1225 Van Cortland Street in Schenectady.
Schedule/Hours: Part—time, Sat & Sun, 8am – 4pm (16 hrs/week)
Pay: $16/hr

Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct routine rounds and update communication log and address issues as needed.
- Maintain accurate and legible reports and records including, but not limited to:
- Daily Communication logs
- Medication logs
- Incident reports
- Assist residents with living skills such as, but not limited to:
- Recreational games with an educational component (i.e. scrabble, word search)
- Personal hygiene- ensure appropriate items such as soap, toothpaste, etc. are available and used by residents
- Securing personal items such as medications, valuables, etc.
- Attend to daily maintenance and upkeep of residence and grounds as outlined in the shift schedule (i.e., general housekeeping, lawn mowing, snow removal, etc.).
- Work with Veterans in the agency’s Transitional Housing program,
- High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in human services or related field preferred.
- Experience providing services to individuals with chronic medical conditions, behavioral health issues and/or substance abuse history.
- Knowledge of local agencies and programs serving homeless and low-income populations is helpful.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Solid computer and data entry skills.
- Collaborative and solutions-focused team member.
- Skilled in conflict resolution with a professional, positive demeanor - able to set priorities, coordinate care plans, and adapt in fast-paced environments.
- Resourceful and proactive with strong planning, time management, and organizational skills.
- Must have reliable transportation with the ability to work assigned shift regularly.
- Ability to work hours beyond the normally scheduled work hours preferred.
- Ability to climb stairs, bend, and lift 40 pounds.
